The Maryland State House in Annapolis holds the distinction of being the oldest American state capitol in continuous legislative use. The state lawmakers of Maryland still do their work in the same place where the document ending the American Revolution was ratified. Maryland State House's wooden dome is the largest of its kind in the US.

This is a well-preserved barracks that housed soldiers during the American Revolution. The furniture and other fixtures provide an excellent insight into the hardships faced by soldiers during that period. There is also a good collection of antique weapons housed here.

This 338-acre / 137-hectare complex was established in 1845 in order to train America's naval officers. It is located just northeast of the city center. The Academy features a visitors' center and museum, as well as the crypt of American Revolutionary hero John Paul Jones and the popular Class of 1951 Gallery of Ships. Guided tours are available through private companies and also through the Academy itself. Be aware that access is sometimes limited due to security concerns.

This Annapolis landmark is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the United States. The gorgeous pleasure garden covers two acres and includes lovely paths amid vibrant fauna, as well as a fish pond. The house itself was built in 1760 by William Paca, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and has been restored to its former glory by the Historic Annapolis Foundation. William Paca House features a re-creation of an authentic 18th-century sick room, including several antique medical instruments.
